Hard Fall Racer Update #2
Hello! Hope you are getting excited for this summer’s race! We wanted to share a few important pieces of information:
- If you are planning to book a room at Mt Snow Resort, you can use the group code “SSNGRE24” or the group name “Green Mountain Adventure Race August 2024” for 20% discount. As of now there is no minimum number of nights to stay required. You can call 855-948-0698 or use this link to make your reservation. Mt. Snow has a pool, arcade and all kinds of great outdoor activities that will keep your family and friends entertained while you’re out playing in the woods!
- The gear list can be found here.
- Logistics – Each team will receive 1 gear bin which you will visit roughly half way through the race. Two person teams can bring 1 paddle bag, three and four person teams can bring 2 paddle bags. Gear bins need to be the standard 27 gallon yellow or blue top ones like this. Lowes and Home Depot carry them, and they are inexpensive. Any paddle bag will do, though if your team doesn’t yet have one, the ARWS bags sold by Mark at Adventure Enablers are highly recommended! Here is the paddle bag link.
- Packrafts – many great questions have come forward on this aspect of the race, most frequently related to transport. As the exact course is still being finalized, and without giving away too many details, here is what can be said – this course CAN be completed without ever having to carry your packraft. HOWEVER, the beauty of packrafts is their portability and versatility. The intention is that the course will encourage teams that are attempting to get all the checkpoints in the fastest time to treat them as such. This means you might choose to carry your rafts for short periods while trekking, while biking, heck you might even decide to strap your bike to your raft for a short bit!
- Test Your Nettle 3 hour race – We officially WILL be having this event! Also based out of Mt. Snow. More details to be released soon.
- Finally, we’ll be sharing a complete racer guide soon. This will summarize everything mentioned in this email, previous emails etc, so you’ll have all the details at your fingertips.
